Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Quillary is a handwriting note-taking app. Your privacy is simple because the app is built to keep your data on your own device.

Data we collect: none

Quillary has no user account and no server. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. We use no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.

Where your notes live

Your notes are stored as ordinary files in a folder you choose on your device (“the vault”). These files stay on your device. If you set up optional backup, the app writes a copy only to a cloud folder that you select yourself; that transfer is initiated and controlled by you, and the data goes to your chosen storage, not to us.

Handwriting recognition

To make your notes searchable, the app uses on-device handwriting recognition (Google ML Kit Digital Ink). Recognition runs locally on your device. Recognition models are downloaded from Google’s servers the first time you enable them; the content of your notes is not sent for recognition.

Audio notes

If you choose to record audio, the recording is stored with your note in your local vault. We do not receive the recording or use it for analytics, advertising, or recognition.

Permissions

The app requests broad file access (All files access) because your notes are real files in a folder you own, which the app must read, write, and index directly. It also requests microphone access for audio notes and network access to download recognition models and run optional backup. The app does not use an advertising identifier.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL.
